Open letter to Alexis Tsipras and his government

OPEN LETTER TO AL. TSIPRAS AND HIS GOVERNMENT

At the dawn of the 27th of July, you and your government invaded three squats which hosted refugees and immigrants in Thessaloniki. At the same time you arrested 75 sympathizers from Greece and Europe while you sent the refugees to concentration camps, some of which did not accept them due to full occupancy. So you left them in the middle of nowhere.

Because the squats of “Orfanotrofeio” and “Hurriya” have their own political voice, and we don’t want to displace it, we will remind you as the squat of “Leoforos Nikis 39”, some facts that we are sure you already know.

The “Leoforos Nikis 39” squat was born trough the revolt of December 2008 and it was the first housing squat for people who took part at this political movement and had real housing problems. Integrated in these breadths it claimed, through an abandoned building, the decent living for those who participated, reappraising the meaning of public space. For this reason it accommodated all these years hundreds of activists and demonstrators, not only from Greece, but from the hole world. When the refugee crisis occurred, it opened in order to greet and cohabitate coequally with the most vulnerable of them, families with children. At the same time it acceded into a system of medical and alimentary care which had been created from the beginning of Eidomeni. Against these people at the dawn of Wednesday the 27th of July you reserved for one more time the nightmare they tried to avoid, crossing as thousands others, the Aegean.

Before you took the power, we welcomed you to its hell, from where unable to escape you accepted the responsibility to conduct it. Saturated by statism and governism, you duplicate the ruins of loyalist policy, because you did not manage to achieve anything new. This state of emergency conquered you because it can’t be reestablished. The moto “left for the first time” it’s true, but not in the way you were selling it bravading abroad and infield but in the way we experience it. Whatever the rightwing didn’t dare to do, you committed to do it bearing the cost of the apologies. Not only you are every word of the constitution but you grow rapidly in every word of law and order.

For these choices you have allies and many of clowns to accept this role. With your view about Evros fence, your acknowledgement of Turkey as a safe country, with the governmental administration of refugee crisis in the way of concentration camp, you liberated the disputatious and ultraconservative reason. Boutaris, Kaminis, the deanship of A.U.TH. and church, appeared in agreement in order to support you.

Besides, it’s not the first time, because we saw you when the war against the solidarians blew up in the middle of the refugee crisis. Then you realized that solidarity take forms far from you, from state and the nongovernmental organizations and you immediately attacked it. But the deaths and the infection take place at the governmental structures. What did you not understand by the death of the 27 year old girl at the “SOFTEX” concentration camp?

We are aware that the invasion against the squats was the states answer about the “No Border” Festival. We also know that you want to bring solidarity under the rules of concentration camps and that’s the reason you placed a implausible warhorse (Toskas) to give us hints and tips. But you probably ignore that we are neither romantics nor life style rebels.

Self-management and its structures, the participatory and coequal solidarity for a world which cannot exist without the “others”, direct democracy, social justice, and the struggle for social antiauthority, it’s alive and it’s here opposing you.

See you at the streets.

P.S.: What can we say about these who alter from political personalities to authority’s pragmatism sidekicks.

Καταλανοί φίλοι/ες πριν λίγο καιρό επισκέφτηκαν το Μικρόπολις με αφορμή το προτζεκτ φιλοξενίας μας. Κάποιοι αποφάσισαν να αφήσουν σπουδές και δουλειές και να μείνουν στην Θεσσαλονίκη τουλάχιστον ένα χρόνο. Κάποιοι άλλοι επέστρεψαν στην Καταλονία.. Το μυαλό τους και η καρδιά τους όμως είναι ακόμα εδώ.. Έφτιαξαν αυτό το μικρο βίντεο κι ένα website (https://micropolissolidarity.wordpress.com) για να συνοψίσουν και να στηρίξουν την προσπάθεια του Μικροπολις να εντάξει οικογένειες προσφύγων στην κοινότητα και στην συνέχεια στην τοπική κοινωνία με αξιοπρέπεια και ίσες ευκαιρίες. Από τότε που έγινε αυτό το βίντεο, προστέθηκε στην προσπάθειά μας, η εργασιακή δομή των προσφύγων με τις μπάρες δημητριακών και δυο ακόμα φιλοξενούμενοί μας κατάφεραν να βρουν δουλειά εδώ στην Θεσσαλονίκη.

Αυτά κάνει λοιπόν ένα πραγματικής αλληλεγγύης προτζεκτ που δεν διατηρεί, ούτε δημιουργεί κι άλλα καμπ-γκετο συγκέντρωσης.. 

Αυτό θα συνεχίσουμε να κάνουμε! Όχι να φιλανθρωπουμε, αλλά να δημιουργούμε μαζί με τους ίδιους τους φιλοξενουμενους μας τις συνθηκες για αξιοπρεπη διαβιωση εδω και τωρα!

Εμεις στεκομαστε στο πλευρο τους στα πρωτα τους βηματα σ'εναν αγνωστο τοπο ετσι ωστε οι ιδιοι οσο πιο αμεσα γινεται να μην εχουν αναγκη κανενα Μικροπολις. Ακριβως αυτο που κανουν οι οικογενειες..

Ζητάμε την στήριξη σας, υλικά, οικονομικά και σε χερια, για να καταφέρουμε να βγάλουμε όσους περισσότερους ανθρωπους, οικογενειες με παιδια γινεται απο τα άθλια καμπ συγκεντρωσης.

Our Catalan friends visited Micropolis some time ago as they were informed about our hosting project. After this, some of them left their studies and work and decided to stay in Thessaloniki for at least a year. Some have returned to Catalonia. Their hearts and minds though are still here. They made this small video and a website (https://micropolissolidarity.wordpress.com) to describe and support the attempt of Micropolis to welcome refugee families in the community and then at the local society with dignity and fair opportunities. Since this video was made, we added the new working group of the refugees making cereal bars and two more of our hosts found work here in Thessaloniki.
This is what a real solidarity project, that doesn't maintain or create more ghetto-concentration camps, does..
And this is what we will keep on doing! We don't do charity, we create along with the refugees the conditions for a decent living in the here and now!
We stand on their side in their first steps in an unfamiliar place so that as soon as possible they will have absolutely no need of any Micropolis.. This is what families do..
We ask for your support, in material, financially or in hands, to take as many people, families with children, as possible away from the concentration camps.

Να γκρεμίσουμε το φράχτη

ΝΑ ΣΤΑΜΑΤΗΣΟΥΜΕ ΤΟΥΣ ΠΝΙΓΜΟΥΣ ΣΤΟ ΑΙΓΑΙΟ, ΝΑ ΓΚΡΕΜΙΣΟΥΜΕ ΤΟΝ ΦΡΑΧΤΗ ΤΟΥ ΕΒΡΟΥ

Καθημερινά χιλιάδες άνθρωποι κυνηγημένοι από τους βομβαρδισμούς της Δύσης, τα ολοκληρωτικά καθεστώτα, τη φονταμενταλιστική φρίκη και ξεριζωμένοι από την ακραία φτώχια και την «ανάπτυξη» των πολυεθνικών, παλεύουν να περάσουν τα σύνορα και να εισέρθουν στην Ευρώπη. Οδηγούνται σε έναν αγώνα επιβίωσης και αναζήτησης μίας ζωής με ειρήνη και αξιοπρέπεια. Χιλιάδες απ’ αυτούς, πνίγονται στα παράλια της Μεσογείου, αλλά και όσοι καταφέρνουν να φτάσουν στα ευρωπαϊκά κράτη ζωντανοί, έρχονται αντιμέτωποι με τα στρατόπεδα συγκέντρωσης, τις φασιστικές/ρατσιστικές επιθέσεις, την αστυνομική βία και την κερδοσκοπία ή αντιμετωπίζονται σαν φτηνό εργατικό δυναμικό, έτοιμο για εκμετάλλευση.

Παρ’ όλη την υποκριτική επίκληση ενός δήθεν ανθρωπισμού, οι ηγέτες της Ευρώπης επικεντρώνονται στην ενίσχυση της φύλαξης των συνόρων, στην αύξηση του στρατού και της Frontex, στα κέντρα κράτησης, στις απελάσεις και στις επαναπροωθήσεις, αποκαλύπτοντας έτσι το πραγματικό πρόσωπο της Ευρώπης-Φρούριο.

Ο Φράχτης του Έβρου δεν αποτελεί μόνο το σύμβολο του αποκλεισμού, της δαιμονοποίησης του «ξένου» και της πάση θυσία προστασίας της εθνικής και ευρωπαϊκής ασφάλειας. Αποτελεί την αιτία όλων αυτών των πνιγμών στο Αιγαίο και στη Μεσόγειο, εφόσον αναγκάζει πρόσφυγες και μετανάστες να ακολουθήσουν τις επίφοβες θαλάσσιες διόδους για τη διάσχιση των συνόρων. Τα στοιχεία δείχνουν ότι από την ολοκλήρωση του φράχτη οι πνιγμοί στο Αιγαίο έχουν αυξηθεί δραματικά και θα συνεχίσουν να αυξάνονται αφού κανένα συρματόπλεγμα δεν μπορεί να σταματήσει αυτούς που αγωνίζονται για επιβίωση και μια ζωή με αξιοπρέπεια.

Δημιουργήσαμε το Συντονιστικό ενάντια στον Φράχτη του Έβρου για να γκρεμίσουμε τον φράχτη, να ανοίξουμε τα σύνορα, να σταματήσουμε την ανθρώπινη τραγωδία στη Μεσόγειο. Συλλογικότητες και άτομα συναντηθήκαμε για να ενώσουμε τις δυνάμεις μας, ο καθένας και η καθεμία με διαφορετικές ιδεολογικές καταβολές και αναλύσεις, αλλά με την κοινή πεποίθηση ότι είναι ζήτημα της κοινωνίας και των κινημάτων να δώσουν ένα τέλος στον εφιάλτη των αιματοβαμμένων συνόρων. Οι συνελεύσεις του Συντονιστικού είναι ανοιχτές με αμεσοδημοκρατικές και οριζόντιες διαδικασίες και επιδιώκεται ο συντονισμός και η συνεργασία τόσο με αντίστοιχες πρωτοβουλίες στην Ελλάδα όσο και στο εξωτερικό, αφού το ζήτημα των συνόρων ξεπερνά τα όρια της χώρας.

Δεν μπορούμε να μένουμε σιωπηλοί μπροστά στο θάνατο… Όσο παραμένει όρθιος ο φράχτης και κλειστά τα σύνορα, το Ελληνικό Κράτος και η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση θα είναι αυτουργοί στις δολοφονίες χιλιάδων μεταναστών και προσφύγων στα παράλια της Μεσογείου, μέσα στα βυθισμένα σαπιοκάραβα των δουλεμπόρων.

Γι’ αυτό καλούμε το Σάββατο 31 Οκτώβρη, στο πλαίσιο πανελλαδικής κινητοποίησης, σε Πορεία στον Έβρο, ενάντια στον φράχτη και στα σύνορα.

• Ελεύθερη μετακίνηση για τους πρόσφυγες και τους μετανάστες
• Χαρτιά σε όλους - Καμία απέλαση
• Κατάργηση των στρατοπέδων συγκέντρωσης
• Ενάντια στην Ευρώπη-Φρούριο
• Η αλληλεγγύη μας να γκρεμίσει τον φράχτη και τα σύνορα
