Micropolis Solidarity project video (gr-eng)

Καταλανοί φίλοι/ες πριν λίγο καιρό επισκέφτηκαν το Μικρόπολις με αφορμή το προτζεκτ φιλοξενίας μας. Κάποιοι αποφάσισαν να αφήσουν σπουδές και δουλειές και να μείνουν στην Θεσσαλονίκη τουλάχιστον ένα χρόνο. Κάποιοι άλλοι επέστρεψαν στην Καταλονία.. Το μυαλό τους και η καρδιά τους όμως είναι ακόμα εδώ.. Έφτιαξαν αυτό το μικρο βίντεο κι ένα website (https://micropolissolidarity.wordpress.com) για να συνοψίσουν και να στηρίξουν την προσπάθεια του Μικροπολις να εντάξει οικογένειες προσφύγων στην κοινότητα και στην συνέχεια στην τοπική κοινωνία με αξιοπρέπεια και ίσες ευκαιρίες. Από τότε που έγινε αυτό το βίντεο, προστέθηκε στην προσπάθειά μας, η εργασιακή δομή των προσφύγων με τις μπάρες δημητριακών και δυο ακόμα φιλοξενούμενοί μας κατάφεραν να βρουν δουλειά εδώ στην Θεσσαλονίκη.

Αυτά κάνει λοιπόν ένα πραγματικής αλληλεγγύης προτζεκτ που δεν διατηρεί, ούτε δημιουργεί κι άλλα καμπ-γκετο συγκέντρωσης.. 

Αυτό θα συνεχίσουμε να κάνουμε! Όχι να φιλανθρωπουμε, αλλά να δημιουργούμε μαζί με τους ίδιους τους φιλοξενουμενους μας τις συνθηκες για αξιοπρεπη διαβιωση εδω και τωρα!

Εμεις στεκομαστε στο πλευρο τους στα πρωτα τους βηματα σ'εναν αγνωστο τοπο ετσι ωστε οι ιδιοι οσο πιο αμεσα γινεται να μην εχουν αναγκη κανενα Μικροπολις. Ακριβως αυτο που κανουν οι οικογενειες..

Ζητάμε την στήριξη σας, υλικά, οικονομικά και σε χερια, για να καταφέρουμε να βγάλουμε όσους περισσότερους ανθρωπους, οικογενειες με παιδια γινεται απο τα άθλια καμπ συγκεντρωσης.

Our Catalan friends visited Micropolis some time ago as they were informed about our hosting project. After this, some of them left their studies and work and decided to stay in Thessaloniki for at least a year. Some have returned to Catalonia. Their hearts and minds though are still here. They made this small video and a website (https://micropolissolidarity.wordpress.com) to describe and support the attempt of Micropolis to welcome refugee families in the community and then at the local society with dignity and fair opportunities. Since this video was made, we added the new working group of the refugees making cereal bars and two more of our hosts found work here in Thessaloniki.
This is what a real solidarity project, that doesn't maintain or create more ghetto-concentration camps, does..
And this is what we will keep on doing! We don't do charity, we create along with the refugees the conditions for a decent living in the here and now!
We stand on their side in their first steps in an unfamiliar place so that as soon as possible they will have absolutely no need of any Micropolis.. This is what families do..
We ask for your support, in material, financially or in hands, to take as many people, families with children, as possible away from the concentration camps.

The social and economic developments of the last few years shed light on the near future we are facing: deprivation of democratic structures and processes, an increase of economic insecurity and precariousness, a return of authoritarian forms of politics through an enormous increase of executive power and a resurgence of right populist and right wing parties all over Europe. While promising human rights, equality and peace for all, European political agenda is experienced by millions as a pure nightmare.

Europe is changing rapidly.

But these changes have never been made without a fight. The conflicts that formed along social, ecological, feminist and antiracist struggles were reinvigorated with the advent of the financial crisis in 2007. However, the implementation of austerity measurements that followed worsened the situation for people in southern Europe, causing extreme cuts to the social state, the health care system, pensions and workplaces.

NOT A “REFUGEE CRISIS” BUT A CRISIS OF FORTRESS EUROPE

Today the discourse on the financial and economic crisis, and its effects on people‘s lives, has almost completely disappeared from media and politics and has been replaced by a new crisis. A crisis that emerged with thousands of refugees shaking up Europe’s “safety zone”, by overcoming its militarized borders and -for a moment- making their racist regulations inapplicable. While the origins and those affected by these crises are not the same, their common point is the disgusting way they are being managed. The same authoritarian and neoliberal management, that was responsible for millions of Greeks being excluded from their health care system, is now errecting barbed wire fences all over Europe.

Ανακοίνωση αλληλεγγύης στους συλληφθέντες της Βέννας

Την Κυριακή 21/3/2010 η συνέλευση NO BORDER Θεσσαλονίκης ανταποκρινόμενη στο κάλεσμα της Πρωτοβουλίας Ξάνθης, συμμετείχε μαζί με ομάδα γιατρών και δικηγόρων σε συγκέντρωση στο κέντρο κράτησης μεταναστών στη Βέννα, δέκα χιλιόμετρα έξω από την Κομοτηνή.

Η παρέμβαση είχε ως στόχο να μπει μέσα στο κέντρο κράτησης και να καταγράψει τις άθλιες συνθήκες κράτησης των μεταναστών και των προσφύγων που επικρατούσαν.

Η αστυνομία αρνήθηκε κατηγορηματικά το αίτημά μας να εισέλθει στο εσωτερικό της φυλακής μια ομάδα από αλληλέγγυους-Γιατρούς-Δικηγόρους. Μη δεχόμενοι τις κόκκινες ζώνες που θέτει το κράτος προσπαθήσαμε να σπάσουμε τον κλοιό των αστυνομικών δυνάμεων.

Οι κατασταλτικές δυνάμεις επιτέθηκαν με σφοδρότητα με σκοπό να διαλύσουν τη συγκέντρωση. Αποτέλεσμα αυτής της βάρβαρης επίθεσης ήταν η σύλληψη και ο ξυλοδαρμός τριών συντρόφων.

5 χρόνια μετά, ενώ το στρατόπεδο συγκέντρωσης μεταναστών της Βέννας έχει κλείσει, το μεταναστευτικό/προσφυγικό ζήτημα είναι πιο επίκαιρο από ποτέ. Υπό αυτές τις συνθήκες θα πραγματοποιηθεί η δίκη των τριών συντρόφων, την Πέμπτη 12/11 στα δικαστήρια κομοτηνής.
